SACRIFICE Begins Recording New Album

December 16, 2008

Vocalist/guitarist Rob Urbinati of the reunited Canadian thrashers SACRIFICE has issued the following update:

"We had a great week [recording the new SACRIFICE album, 'The Ones I Condemn'] at Rouge Valley Studio here in Toronto. Gus Pynn completed his drum tracks, most the guitars are done and it sounds devastating already. Darius, the engineer, and Alex assisting have both been amazing to work with. True to our word, we went in with no click track, no triggered samples, and no quantized drum sound, so expect a totally human-sounding recording. We can't wait for everyone to hear this new stuff...recording will hopefully be completed by the end of January. I hate hype, but I will say that we are extremely happy with the way things are going in the studio...we will let the music do the talking. To put everyone's fears to rest... yes, there is a lot of really fast thrash metal."

SACRIFICE is planning to release a new DVD, "Live Reanimation", in early 2009, featuring the band's complete reunion show from September 2006 at the Day Of The Equinox II festival in Toronto, Ontario at the Opera House. The group's original lineup performed tracks from their classic metal releases: "Torment In Fire" (1986),"Forward To Termination" (1987) and "Soldiers of Misfortune" (1990).

Urbinati previously described the new songs are "a continuation of SACRIFICE. Don't worry, it doesnt sound like a style of new thrash...it is us. If anything, I, myself am looking at 'Forward To Termination' as the moodsetter. Listening to a lot of stuff that influenced us then...old METALLICA, SLAYER, MERCYFUL FATE, TROUBLE, EXODUS, D.R.I., DISCHARGE, RUSH, Di'Anno MAIDEN. One thing I think we are all on board with, is that the drums will be real. None of this sampled sound with all the mistakes fixed... it will sound human. I am totally sick of that production style. It's time to bring a human sound with feeling back." He added, "Our writing credo right now is 'no fucking compromise.' No fucking around. Yes, there will be some melody like all SACRIFICE, but make no mistake, this will be a fucking punishing thrash album." Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Great Wall", "Give Me Justice" and "Absolute Power Corrupts".
